Laren giggled lightly as he repeated it back to her. "Ya, but it is not as bad as it looks, or smells." She said as she looked back and waited for him to follow. But he had just suggested going off campus for some food.
"Umm....I...guess?" She replied slowly. The words did not want to leave her throat for some strange reason. But she tried to ignore this fact. "That sounds better then what lunch s-smells like."
"So ya, I guess I'm game." She replied back.

'Oh nuts... NOW what do I do?' Taylor had never taken a girl out to... well ANYthing at all, and he had no point of refrince...
"Um, okay cool, do you want to drive or should I?"
Taylor's mind going about ten times faster than it had ever gone before and it wasn't getting anywhere... 'Oh crap, Oh crap, Oh crap...'

Laren blinked. "Um, well, about that. I don't drive yet." She started. "I'm a freshman..." She couldn't help but sigh. There was no way Taylor was a freshman and could drive, unless he ment bikes. She couldn't help but blush ever so slightly. It was odd.
She rubbed the back of her head and nervously flipped through a folder that was neatly organized. She needed something to distract her from rejection.

'mmmm yay?' Taylor thought as he looked down the hallway at the exit sign... he had half expected her to blow him off at this point but she hadn't... yet... "Oh, no prob, I got my car here, so I guess I'll drive." he held out his arm, indicating for her to go first...
'Yeah, we'll go in my dog-eared hunk of old school American iron... jeez...'
This day was far removed from what Taylor had envisioned... It was, so far... much better... so far...

Laren blinked. He didn't mind hanging out with her? A true smile appeared momentarily on her face. Laren nodded. She stopped talking. It was a bit shocking that she was not fully sure what to say. She always knew what to say, she just never said it.
She quickly noticed he was motioning for her to go first. So she obeyed and headed down the hallway, trying to slow down a bit to walk with him. "Thank you." She mumbled. But she had managed to get it past her lips.

Taylor looked down at her sideways and gave a plain honest smile; "Hey, I'm the one who should thank you, I know only five or six people in the whole dang city, and none of them are in high school..."
He quickly pushed the door open and held it for Laren, letting her step out into the sunlight first, He reached into a pouch on his backpack and flipped out a pair of blue tinted sunglasses, and placed them on his face...

Laren smiled back and nodded. "Heh, you know more then I do. I think I know two kids in the school. Now, if you asked me to name books in the library...Hmm, I think I might win." She said as she stepped outside. She shielded her eyes with her hand till they ajusted. With a smile she turned and glanced at Taylor as she slipped on a blue pair of 'shades'.
"I don't know anyone in the city, I spend all my time at home." She shook her head at that fact. But she was not going to mention she was always home alone. So she glanced around the parking lot.

"Yeah, I hardly even know what my house looks like... I 've slept in my room like maybe three times?" Taylor laughed at himself and explained; "I work a lot..."
He noted her looking around so he took a slight breath and pointed at his car... "I'm parked over there..." You simply could not miss the large, ancient beige station wagon with the black tinted windows, bent fender, and the back quarter top to bottom, every part but the windows, covered in bumper-sickers about musical instrument company's mixed with bands ranging from Green Day to Dave Mathews, Eric Clapton to the White Stripes, weezer and John Mayer... All with the random Texan pride sticker mixed in for good measure...
'She's gonna think I'm bent...' Taylor moaned internally...

Laren smiled. "Really? I sort of wish I saw less of that house. But I am not the most social person you'll meet. Trust me on that." She stated but she had only looked around to see if others were leaving as well. Which there were, so she did not feel bad leaving campus. But when she looked back to Taylor, he was pointing.
After a moment she looked to see that he was pointing to his car. She nodded. "I see you like music." She said with another plesent smile as she continued to follow him toward the beat up car. But it was more of a car then she had.

'... Wow... she doesn't think I'm nuts...' Taylor thought as he unlocked the doors and tossed his pack into the back seat, "Yeah, that the first nice thing anyone's ever said about bender here..." He sat on the large and cushy tan bench seat, as Laren sat next to him the the passanger seat with her bag...
After bluckling up Taylor tapped the gas a few times then turned the key, and after a little bit of whining, a small pop and litte gray smoke, the engine started and hummed softly...
"Okay here we go..."
Taylor was a careful driver, and kept just under the speed limit on the road untill they got to the edge of the city...

Laren smiled as she sat down in the car. He seemed to appriciate her comment on the car. So she didn't want to ruin it. "Really? Strange." She replied as she buckled her seat belt instictivly and sat her small bag on the car floor between her legs. The car started and they wer off to a restaurant he worked at. She was not fully sure where they were going. But she would find out when they got there.
If she asked, she would not know it anyway. So she stayed quiet.

"Sorry if I seem a bit rude, but I like to give as much focus on driving as I can..." Taylor Said as he parked in front of a small older three story brick buliding... "Here it is, the East Side Cafe, Home of the blue plate special and the best soup and salad in Deviation..."
Taylor held the door open for Laren, as they stepped inside...
"Sup Mac? You cutting school to work or what?" A average height slightly chubby man in his early thirty's called out from behind the counter, a large pot of soup in his mitten covered hands... "Hey Dave, nah, just grabbing a bite with a friend... Dave, this is Laren, Laren, this is Dave, my boss and one of the owners of the Cafe..." "Hiya Laren, how's the world treatin' you? Yo Mac, lunch is on me today if you can fix that blasted sound system up stairs, it's making the mp3 player sound like crap..." a shout from back in the kitchen caught the jolly managers ear and he set the soup down on a hot plate before dashing off to the back... "Help yourself Mac, you know what's good and where it is!"
Taylor bowed his head and shook it slowly... "Welcome to the east side Laren..."

Laren shook her head. "No problem at all. I am not very social to begin with" She stated sadly, but she got out of the parked car. She left her bag in the car and closed the door. She followed after Taylor as he introduced the resturant. But she nodded. Laren stepped inside after Taylor.
There was a short conversation, she was quickly introduced to Dave. "Nice to meet you...It's treating me well." She didn't want to interupt him as he mentioned something about an MP3 player. But she was only half listening. She was looking around the restaruant. It seemed like a nice little place.
She couldn't help but luahg shortly as Taylor bowed his head. "It seems, nice." She said plesently.

Taylor grinned softly and nodded, "yeah, it really is, here..." He moved to the counter and hopped over it in a single jump, "Here's a menu, what would you like to drink?" He handed her a simple heavy paper menu, filled with options of cold drinks, coffee's, salad, pasta, sandwiches, wraps, wings, soups, muffins, and three kinds of fried potato's...

Laren laughed shortly and nodded. She watched as he hopped the counter and handed her a menu. She took it and did a quick flip through. "I guess i'll get some water and a turkey sandwich." She said as she handed it back to him. She wanted to help out but he did work here and she didn't want to interfere with his work.
