Name:
Zack Fair
Nickname:
Occasionally called "Spikey" by his friends due to his unusual hair style
Age:
17
Gender:
Male
Job:
Lifeguard and Movie Theater Attendant
Grade:
11th
Clubs:
Football Team - WR
Captain of the Swim Team
Black Belt in Karate
Family:
John Fair - Father
Anne Fair - Mother
Matt Fair - Brother
Amy Fair - Sister
Personality:
Cheerful and outgoing, Zack fills the shoes of "the popular kid" quite easily. However, it was not like he ever tried to become that person. In fact, he hates being the center of attention, although it seems he easily becomes it around others. He also appears as a bit of a flirt around the opposite sex. Because of this, he has been in many "relationships", although that term usually came to mean one time flings with girls he hardly cared about. This greatly distresses Zack, for he hates feeling like he is using anybody, although with his position in the social circle, that's an easy feeling to come by. In summary, he is a normal person pushed into the "popular" role because he possesses qualities others want. Scratch that surface and you find a caring, albeit confused, individual.
Stuff we forgot:
Zack is known to have scars nobody can quite explain, as well as days when he seems more withdrawn than usual. He is also a good student, with a 3.5 GPA.
History:
Born into a wealthy family, early life was never difficult to Zack. He got pretty much anything he wanted, and no one could ask for more loving parents. However, nothing good lasts forever. At the age of 8 Zack's parents got a divorce. The exact reason was unknown, but Zack believed it was due to his father's recent habit of taking to the bottle when he was off work. Unlike most children, the divorce itself did not bother Zack. He had seen it coming, and he still got to see both his parents, so what was there to hate? So at first, this change seemed welcome, since his mother seemed much happier. However, the same could not be said about his father, who had took to drinking even more heavily since the split. Eventually it reached the point where his father would begin to blame the children for the divorce. Matt, knowing this was wrong, confronted his father, only to be met with a fist to the face. This caused Matt to disown his father's side of the family entirely, and to take John to court over the abuse. However, in a twisted court decision, they decided Matt had made up the whole story and ordered regular visits with John to continue. This meant Zack and Amy had to continue to see their now abusive father, since Matt was now 18 and in college. Anne knew what John was doing, and to protect the children, moved to Deviation City, hundreds of miles away. While this improved their life for much of the year, Zack and Amy are still forced to visit John for eight weeks. These few weeks of abuse have led to Zack's many scars, and while he knows he could beat his father if he wanted, he accepts the beatings in fear that John would beat Amy if he resisted. His life now is the split of two extremes. He has the wealthy, happy life with his mother countered by the poor, abusive life of his father.

"Hey Zack!"
At this shout, Zack stopped walking, the wind whipping his hood back from his head, his black locks spilling out over his shoulders. He turned slowly to direction of the voice, lifting one hand to block the glare of the sun, looking for the owner of the voice. However, that proved unessisary, as the person was already right beside him.
"Matt! Long time no see, bro!"
After a quick embrace, Matt pulled Zack back to arms length, inspecting him. For what, Zack could guess, although he would avoid that topic of conversation if he could help it. The last thing he needed was Matt worried. Whenever that happened, people tended to end up hurt.
"How's school?"
This question snapped Zack back from his thoughts. "Oh, err ... good! Football just started, and I made varsity, so I've been working pretty hard." With this he shook the bag of football gear that he had draped over his shoulder, laughing. "It's been working out though."
Matt nodded, grinning. Reaching over, he tussled Zack's hair. "I see gel still can't contain that mess." he said, pulling his hand back, slightly wet from the sweat of Zack's hair.
Zack snickered. "Not really. It still grows like a B-ch too." With this he reached up rubbing his own hair thoughtfully. "Anyway, enough about me. How have you been?"
Matt suddenly became very serious, looking out to the west at the setting sun. "Actually, that's why I came to talk to you ...."
